So these past few weeks my sister Connie and I have been on a canning crusade! I'm not sure what's gotten into me, but I have this huge desire to can anything and everything in sight. Lucky for me I have an awesome mother-in-law who has all of the stuff I need to make this possible. Last week Connie and I canned meats (ground turkey, roast, and chicken). We also did some pinto beans. This week we mastered the art of canning butter (we failed the first time but made it work the second), and we made our first batch of strawberry jam. Did I forget anything, Connie? Oh, I just forgot to mention how much fun we've had...It's been great getting together with my sister (and you too, Carrie!...I forgive you for breaking my jar). It's feels good following the prophets council to be self-reliant and to get our food storage! Next up...a garden..so I can bottle some of those fresh veggies! The possibilities are endless. I love it.

I'm jealous of you! Now that I have a garden, I need to learn how to can stuff. Good for you! The only names we have come up with so yfar are, Dylan, Kale or Cole. I need help with names.
Yes... the canning adventures have been fulfilling. But it has worn me out a little. I'm officially getting sick! Thanks for letting me come over and experiment with Ola Mae's canning stuff! Love you!
Good for you. I have recently done Chicken, Pork, and Applesauce. It is a great feeling isn't it! Strawberry jam sounds great, I will have to try it.
I wish I was as motivated as you are! Keep it up!
I have the urge to can to but i don't have the pressure canner like i need, it's on my wish list. But last year i was able to do lots of other stuff, and it's fun everytime when you open up one of your creations! Good for you. You will have to let me in on the secrets to canning butter, i've never done that one.
Way to go! I wish I was that motivated right now!
We have been into canning lately, as well. Peaches, pears, applesauce, chicken, and beef are all on our shelves...I did not know you can do butter...you will have to tell me how you did that! There is nothing like seeing all of your work lined up on the shelves! Good work!
Look at you go! Ymmm... I would love to learn the art of canning. Maybe when I have 2 out of 3 in school I will look into learning.
Thanks for inviting me to your blog...again. Sorry about not getting to it in time last time. I didn't know you are pregnant. You look great! I'm excited for you. And I love your canning pictures, what good examples.

Thank you for the forgiveness... I've been ashamed ever since:) My shoes are still slippery from the butter... mmm!
I want your mother in law to teach a class in our ward
I had no idea you could can butter. I have a lot to learn about food storage, although I've started.
